Guard Your Thoughts By Nina. Keegan-Owens

(Isaiah 55:8-9)

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
"As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.


Our thoughts.... The powerful little mind invaders that endlessly wreak havoc on our subconscious. Why must we ever struggle with negative thinking at all? Our thought process can unequivocally make us or break us. Thoughts are the single most important thing that can either lead us to a blessed, wonderful, faith filled life steeped in wisdom and divine health; or in complete contrast our thought patterns can keep us caged up in the bondage of mediocracy, lack and infirmity compromising all joy and any resemblance of a peaceful existence.

I think so often we fail to realize the magnitude of consequence stemming from negative thoughts. Every negative experience you have ever faced can be traced back to your thoughts. When we think wrong, we believe wrong. When we believe wrong , we act wrong!

(2 Corinthians 10:5)
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ and perfect will of God.

Our thoughts must indeed be held captive so they cannot overtake our lives and handcuff our futures. The Bible says our thoughts are not our own! They come from one of two sources. Good, positive, loving, thoughts are from the Lord. Every negative, sinister and evil thought that does not line up with the Word of God comes straight from the enemy himself.

The good news is, we get to make wise decisions about our thoughts. We can choose what we spend our time thinking about. We can choose what we will believe for our lives. We can change our thoughts by renewing our minds...

(Romans 12:2)
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.

The Bible says we should CAST down all thoughts that come against the perfect will of God. This requires action and faith on our parts. To cast means to throw with force, to hurl! We must recognize when we are under an attack of a mind invasion and respond immediately by casting away the wrong thought knowing that it was not a thought from God but rather a negative thought from the enemy designed to stir up tension, fear and anxiety. We can immediately replace and reinforce the negative thought with a positive thought. Negative thoughts are pure evil foreboding plots designed to veer us off track. Recognizing immediately the root of our thoughts gives us complete authority over our them. We can either allow our negative thoughts to linger and hang out while simultaneously turning our minds into a playground for the enemy or we can rid them from ourselves for good. We can banish them, rebuke them and purge them from our minds. We can replace all wrong thoughts with right thoughts. God has given you the ability to change your thinking. You can authorize what your mind dwells on. You are the CEO of your thoughts, you hold the lock and key to every thought you think. You can even terminate them for inexcusably bad behavior and negative thinking. You do not have to put up with mediocracy one more second!! The choice is yours!

Positive or negative, what we think we become! Why then would we ever entertain a negative thought again? Henry Ford once said," If we say we can or we say we can't, either way we are right!" We must practice identifying and paying close and focused attention on what goes on in our minds! When a negative thought seeps in, we must give it no footing...
All of the, "I am not good enough, nothing good ever happens to me, I will never get well, I am not smart enough, I will never find a good job, I can never break this addiction, my marriage is a mess, school is to hard, I give up", thoughts must end! Your thoughts are a steering wheel that will turn you straight into your reality if they are not changed by the renewing of your mind.

The Bible lists the things we should spend our time focusing on. We should declare wonderful blessings, great talents, creativity, divine favor, health and wisdom over our lives everyday. We should see ourselves as victorious. We should declare that break throughs are on the way and we should be excited about the future. We must live with expectancy, peace and unspeakable joy. We must declare that even though it seems tough now, God's plan is extraordinary! He is the God of more than enough. He is the great physician, He is the great I AM! God owns everything, He can and will make a way, He can calm the storms, part the seas , heal the sick and provide for us with unlimited, immeasurable, surpassing greatness of grace and favor. That is solely what our thoughts should focus on.. The more we think positively the more our lives will follow these thoughts and change will begin to manifest!

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Get in the habit of perpetual positive thinking. Guard your every thought. Get into the Word of God! Keep His words at the forefront of your thoughts. Stay away from others that try to bring you down. You know the truth! You know what God says about you regardless of what is going on around you! Put your blinders on and stay focused with your whole mind, body and soul on the favor filled path that the Lord has in store for you. Do not stray from it! Seek Him in all you do and with your entire being. Give Him the complete praise and glory as you invite Him to inhabit your mind. Relinquish it all to Him. Be renewed, refreshed and forever changed by God's unending strength and love.

(Psalm119:10)
I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.

( Matthew 16:23)
But Jesus turned and told Peter, "Get behind me, satin! You are an offense to me, because you are not thinking God's thoughts but human thoughts!"

In this Scripture Jesus reprimands Peter for thinking thoughts of man and not the thoughts of God. He was telling Peter that those types of negative thoughts might as well have come from satin. Learn to think like God thinks. Act like God acts. Your life will always imitate your thoughts either way!

Thank You sweet Father in Heaven that you love us so much that you will help us guard our thoughts and stay focused on all you have done for us. Thank you that we can think like you think and believe for great blessings and favor in our lives. Help us to think God like thoughts! We love and praise you in Jesus name !
